The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. Pslam 18:2

The Bride and the Highway...

I was in the middle of doing my bridal portraits and driving to the next location. I had my hair done, make up to perfection and thanks to the Texas heat...a lot of sweat! My mom was behind me in her car and we were having a wonderful day. It was a lot of work; but still a blast.

I got behind this Ford truck that was loaded with all kinds of stuff I couldn't see. After about 10 minutes of following the truck, I looked up to see something HUGE, heavy, and rectangular flying out of the back of the truck towards my wind shield. I yanked my car off to the left as the large object continued in slow motion to come towards my face. At the last second I did a jerk to the left into the grass the object hit my car on the right side, BAM. I screeched to a halt as my heart was racing. Everything got quiet as I realized that an angel just saved me. I looked in my rear view mirror and could see the large object, which turned out to be a large bay window, on the ground behind me. I was fine. My rear view mirror had been knocked off and the side of the car was really scratched up, but no one was in the least bit hurt. When the guy driving the truck stopped and came to check on me, I'm sure he wondered why I had more hairspray and make up on than a cartoon character...but there I was...totally fine by the greace of the Lord.

I'm sure each and every one of us can think of times when we were saved and didn't deserve to be. The "almost" days in our lives. I'm not sure why I didn't get hit that day. But I know this: each day is special and although living in a constant state of fear is not healthy, lving in a constant state of gratitude and communion with God is wonderful. Because on those "almost" days, you have a peace that surpasses all understanding.
