<p>The capital of Mauritius is Port Louis which showcases the colonial architecture with great local markets. The local markets there are flooded with fresh spices, fruits and vegetables. The Mauritius is volcanic in nature and this why this place has got the rich and fertile soil. The soil of Mauritius is productive in growing many crops. The languages used in Mauritius are English, French, Mauritian creole and French based creole. The other languages are Tamil, Hindi, Marathi, Urdu, Hakka which is a Chinese dialect, Guajarati and Bhojpuri.</p>

Mauritius is known for hiking, trekking, mountain climbing, quad biking, horse riding, cycling and cross country running. Scuba diving in Mauritius is really an experience of lifetime. There are more than twenty three centers registered under the Mauritius scuba diving association. If you like scuba diving, it is advisable to go with a dive operator to avoid problem. It is also advisable to beware of weather conditions and the existing water current before going for diving.</p>
<p>The Grand Bassin is a sacred place in Mauritius for hindus.  The waters of the lake situated in the crater of the extinct volcano. It is said that the source of this place is the river Ganges. It has got a temple with a statue of 108 feet high lord Shiva. This statue was brought here in 2007. This place is also known as Ganga talao.</p>
