All will agree that the maximum number of road accidents and deaths happens during the time span from evening to late night. In Europe and US the surveys says that the rate of accidents during the day time is 60% lesser than that of night hours. These figures are growing day by day as the number of traffic is also growing on road. Maximum of these accidents happen due to carelessness and lack of precautions for driving during the night hours.

We can see clear till a long distance during the day time, but at night, the vision is limited and the judgmental ability for driving also reduces. Since the vision of the driver is limited till a very short distances in the high ways the possibilities of sudden braking increases which might compel the driver to loose control over the vehicle. It might not be so tough to control the small cars but it is a big task for the bigger trucks.

To avoid these accidents the drivers should follow few safety precautions. These include Lights, speed and maintaining distance, adherence to driving rules and maintenance of the vehicle.

•    Lights: the front and tail lights should be in proper working conditions. Before starting the vehicle one should check the lights and the indicators properly so that no problem occurs on road while driving. If the car needs to pass through the foggy area, then it should have powerful fog lights.

•    Speed and Distance: the speed limit should be under control and the driver, under no circumstances should cross the speed limit. A minimum safety distance should be maintained by the driver with the other vehicles on the road. Keeping a safe distance always minimizes the risk of accidents.

•   Adherence to driving rules: a driver should always maintain the traffic guidelines of the state where he or she is driving.

•    Maintenance of the vehicles: Vehicles should be maintained properly. Engine and all other parts should be checked prior to start for the journey. The breaks, cultch, lights, fuel and the batteries should be checked always. If the vehicle is in a proper working condition and the air pressure in the tires is under control, then the mileage and functionality of the car improves increases manifold.
